The short version
- Tally records only the calls you choose to record, and only after you click it or press its shortcut.
- Recordings and transcripts are saved to your own Google Drive. Tally can see only the files it creates there.
- For transcripts, audio is sent to OpenAI using your own API key. The key stays in Chrome on your computer.
- We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
1. What Tally handles
- Call audio. When you start a recording, Tally captures the audio of that Google Meet tab and, if you allow it, your microphone. Nothing is recorded before you start or after you stop.
- Meeting details. The meeting title and the date and time of the recording, used to name the files.
- Google account access. A sign-in token that lets Tally create files in your Google Drive. Tally never sees your Google password.
- Your OpenAI API key. Needed for transcripts. It is stored in Chrome on your computer and sent only to OpenAI, with each transcription request. We never receive it.
- Your settings. Choices such as the Drive folder name, transcript language and format, stored in Chrome on your computer.
Tally does not read your other tabs, your browsing history, your email or the rest of your Drive.
2. How it’s used
Tally uses this data only to do what you ask: record the call, save the recording to your Drive, create the transcript and show your recent recordings in the extension. It is not used for advertising, profiling or training AI models.
3. Google user data
Tally asks for one Google Drive permission, called “drive.file”. It lets Tally create files in your Drive and work with those files only. It cannot open, list or change anything else you keep in Drive.
Tally’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell this data, use it for ads, or let people read it, except with your permission, for security reasons, or when the law requires it.
5. Storage and deletion
- While you record, Tally keeps the audio on your computer so nothing is lost if Chrome closes. That copy is deleted once the upload to Drive has finished.
- Files in your Drive stay until you delete them. Tally never deletes them for you.
- Tally does not keep copies of your recordings or transcripts on servers it controls.
- Your OpenAI key stays in Chrome until you remove it in Tally’s settings or remove the extension.
- Removing the extension deletes its settings, your OpenAI key and any copies still on your computer.
6. Your choices
- Skip microphone access, and only the other people in the call are recorded.
- Leave the OpenAI key empty, and Tally records and saves to Drive without making transcripts. You can change or remove the key at any time, or revoke it in your OpenAI account.
- Disconnect Google Drive in Tally’s settings, or remove Tally’s access from your Google Account under Security, Third-party apps.
- Delete any recording or transcript in Google Drive at any time.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or to delete it, through the contact page.
7. Recording consent
Recording a conversation can require everyone’s agreement, depending on where you and the other people are. Tally shows when it is recording and can post a message in the meeting chat, but asking for consent is your responsibility.
8. Children and changes
Tally is not meant for children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top and describe important changes in the extension before they take effect.
9. Contact
Questions about privacy go to [email protected], or use the contact form and choose “Privacy or data request”. Scelex, Zarytskykh St, 5, Lviv, 79011, Ukraine.
