Effective 23 October 2026. Applies to the Tally extension for Google Chrome, provided by Scelex.

The short version
- You choose what to record, and you’re responsible for getting consent from the people on the call.
- Your recordings and transcripts are yours and stay in your own Google Drive.
- Tally is free. Transcripts use your own OpenAI API key and are billed by OpenAI.
- Tally is provided as is. Automatic transcripts can contain mistakes.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Scelex, the company that makes Tally. By installing or using Tally you agree to them. If you use Tally for an organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms on its behalf.
2. What Tally does
Tally is a Chrome extension that records the audio of Google Meet calls you choose to record, saves the recordings to your own Google Drive and, if you add an OpenAI API key, creates transcripts.
We may improve, change or stop parts of Tally over time. If we stop Tally altogether, we’ll say so in the extension or on this website first, where we reasonably can. Your recordings stay in your Drive either way.
3. Your Google and OpenAI accounts
- Tally works through your own Google account. Your use of Google Drive and Google Meet is also covered by Google’s terms, and storage counts toward your Drive quota.
- Transcripts use your own OpenAI API key. OpenAI’s terms apply to that use, and OpenAI bills you directly. We don’t control OpenAI’s prices, availability or the accuracy of its transcripts.
- You’re responsible for keeping your accounts and your API key secure.
4. Recording laws and consent
Recording a conversation can be illegal without the agreement of everyone in it, depending on where you and the other people are. You are responsible for following the recording and privacy laws that apply to your calls, including telling people and getting their consent.
Tally shows when it is recording and can post a message in the meeting chat, but these features don’t replace asking for consent.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use Tally to:
- record people secretly or against the law, or in breach of a meeting’s rules or a confidentiality obligation;
- harass, defraud or harm anyone;
- break, overload or get around the security of Tally, Google or OpenAI services;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer Tally, except where the law allows it.
6. Your recordings and transcripts
Your recordings and transcripts belong to you, or to whoever owns the rights in what was said. We don’t claim any rights in them and, as the privacy policy explains, we don’t receive copies. Transcripts are made automatically and can contain mistakes, so check anything important against the recording.
7. Price
Tally is currently free to use. Transcription costs are charged by OpenAI to your own account. If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll explain the price before you’re charged anything.
8. No warranty
We work hard to make Tally reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will always work, be error-free, capture every second of a call or keep working with future versions of Chrome, Google Meet, Google Drive or OpenAI.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Scelex is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost recordings, lost data, lost profits or claims by people you recorded, arising from your use of Tally.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country.
10. Stopping using Tally
You can stop at any time by removing the extension and, if you like, Tally’s access in your Google Account. We may suspend or end your use of Tally if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. The sections on recording consent, your recordings, warranty, liability and governing law still apply after that.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim there.
12. Changes and contact
If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top. For important changes we’ll let you know in the extension before they take effect. Continuing to use Tally after that means you accept the new terms.
